You can put your boat in at Waterfront Park (400 S. Water Street) or Dog Corner Park in downtown Elizabeth City. The fall season attracts boaters, as many travel down the Intracoastal Waterway to warmer weather. Boaters also enjoy cruising the Albemarle Loop on the protected waters of historic Albemarle Sound. While you’re at the Visitors Center, take some brochures offering activities to do in the Elizabeth City area, such as our self-guided historic district walking tours and Civil War trail. From Small Seed to Big BloomNorth Carolina produces a variety of crops including the ever-versatile cotton. Although the 100+ year old Elizabeth City Cotton Mill is now shut down, you can enjoy the spirit of the mill by visiting cotton fields near the blimp hangar or by the fields next to City Center West. Some folks say that the fields turn a purple hue at twilight. Pickin’ PumpkinsWho doesn’t like to celebrate fall with pumpkins? Whether you carve them or simply use them for decoration, purchasing pumpkins in Elizabeth City guarantees a variety of shapes and sizes. Places like Brothers Farm Market or even the First United Methodist Church offer different events to encourage families to pick pumpkins together.
