Monday 8/3 at Firehouse Subs: Hero Appreciation Night with 20 percent off day and night! From 5-8 p.m. there will be kids activities, mascots, fire truck, face painting, non-profits and more. Wednesday 8/5 at Albemarle Lanes: Free bowling for active military. Rock and bowl in the evening! Thursday 8/5 at The Pines: Free golf and swimming for active military families. Reserve your tee time by calling (252) 335-0278. Enjoy Burger Bar night specials too. Thursday 8/5 at Living Waters B&B and Bakery: Enjoy free samples of cupcakes, ice cream and sweet teas for military families. Also enjoy live Alpacas! Just down the road from The Pines. Friday 8/7 at the Museum of the Albemarle: U.S. Coast Guard stamp dedication event at 1 p.m. Join us for this historic occasion presented by the U.S. Post Office. The public is welcome! Saturday 8/8 at Morgan’s Corner: U.S. Coast Guard Military Appreciation Concert with rising Nashville Country Music Awards Star Ray Scott, Old Southern Moonshine Revival, Outlaw 21 and American Idol contestant, Emily Minor. $28 tickets on sale now at the Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce and Duck Thru Locations! The gate opens at 3:00 p.m., and the concert runs from 4:00 – 10:00 p.m. Sunday 8/9 at Forest Park Church: Military appreciation service at 11:30 a.m. Speakers include U.S. Coast Guard Base Commander Bruce Brown and CNN Hero of the Year Dale Beatty (drummer for Outlaw 21 Band). Refreshments will be served, and Coastie kids get a free T-shirt for Vacation Bible School that starts on Aug 10. Join us in thanking our wonderful “Guardians of the Coast” this week–and always!
