Come to the Ultimate Wedding Expo this Weekend!

It is well known in the wedding industry that more people become engaged in the period from November to January. Makes sense, right? A ring under the Christmas tree, or a New Year’s Eve surprise. If this happened to you, and you are dreaming of your ultimate wedding, plan to attend the Ultimate Wedding Expo, March 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Museum of the Albemarle (MOA) here in Elizabeth City. Presented by The Bridal Lounge and MOA, the Expo is designed to provide area brides with a unique, one-stop experience showcasing the very best in the region’s wedding industry. “Whether you are planning a wedding or event in the near future, or just love learning more about our local vendors, this event is for you,” said Sandra Sutton, owner of The Bridal Lounge, an Elizabeth City-based wedding planning business. “Everything you need to plan your special occasion is under one roof, and our wedding professionals are happy to help you make it memorable and perfect one.” Couples can visit with 30 businesses specializing in wedding venues, catering, wedding cakes, bridal gowns, wedding rings, favors, dance lessons, honeymoon destinations, skin care products, entertainment, floral arrangements, photography, videography, transportation, party rentals and more. The day will include a fabulous live fashion show featuring the latest bridal and formal wear attire, along with live entertainment and giveaways. There will also be giveaways, including a free set of wedding bands courtesy of The Bridal Registry, a honeymoon vacation (destination to be announced) and the grand prize of a three-day cruise to the Bahamas. In addition, Expo guests will find further wedding inspiration by touring MOA’s beautiful exhibition, I DO! Weddings in the Albemarle, 1831-2015. Located just steps from the Expo area, the exhibit features more than 100 wedding garments, accessories and other items that illustrate the area’s traditions over nearly two centuries. Among the treasures on view: a 1920s-era wedding gown and six-piece French hand-painted trousseau; ensembles worn by a bride and groom in 1884; and displays of shoes, hats, gloves, cake toppers, wedding bouquets and accessories. This is the third year that Sutton has presented the Wedding Expo. Last year, 46 wedding vendors participated and the event drew more than 350 attendees. And the event is not just for those planning a wedding, said Sutton. The Expo is a great chance to plan for other special occasions, such as prom, Sweet 16 and anniversary parties. Admission to the Expo is $5 per person and free to brides. For information, call The Bridal Lounge at (252) 562-6382. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
